EMC unleashes XtremIO 4.0 ‘beast' in the data centre

EMC has unveiled its latest XtremIO 4.0 version, claiming the update will boost all Flash data centre arrays' performance by a staggering 33 percent. Dubbed "the beast" by EMC, the update launched at EMC World in Las Vegas and will be available as a free software upgrade to all XtremIO v3.X array customers at an unspecified point in Q2 this year. EMC claims the update will offer customers a variety of new services and performance improvements, including a "breakthrough" 40TB X-Brick. X-Bricks are the building blocks of EMC's XtremIO storage service and are clustered together to grow performance and storage capacity in data centres. The new block offers twice the maximum capacity of previous XtremIO X-bricks. XtremIO 4.0 will let customers create clusters of up to eight 40TB X-Bricks. Other benefits include enhanced data protection services, application automation, reworked management controls and improved hybrid cloud support. Full article can be found here
